Keeping a meditation Journal

Keeping a journal helps you to find patterns in your life and during

meditations. A journal can allow you to better judge how a particular

practice effects you. Journaling can also help you to develop a habit of

practicing . By Journaling you also get used to being aware of

events in you life and how they effect you. Many times you will not

Remember all the details from that meditation that you did a week

ago and a journal makes you able to track your practice over the years.

1. The Date and Time of meditation ?

 

2. Did you set any expectations or special significance for this meditation.

 

3. How did you feel before meditating? Include feeling tired, sick, great etc.

 

4. What was happening in you life that day? Include your emotions, schedule, family matters, etc.

 

5. How did you feel during the meditation? Include feelings of peacefulness, pains,restlessness etc.

 

6. How did you feel after meditation. Include if you felt better, tired, peaceful, pain, happy, etc.

 

7. How long did you meditate for? Include how long did it feel like.

 

8. How did you feel the rest of the day. Include any changes from normal.

 

9. How did this differ from other days you meditated?

 

10. Did you do any other awareness orientated practices that day. This would include Tai Chi, Yoga, Qiqong ect. and did you find the practice to be different.

 

Every time you meditate you should journal the following things writing down one or two lines on each of the 10 questions as well as any other information. Use one page for each day. You can do this on a computer!

Doing your journal on a computer may allow you to use a search function which can aid you in finding patterns!!
